Engineered to Block Sun, Heat & Glare

Designed to protect you, your home and outdoor furniture from harsh afternoon sun, while keeping your outdoor space comfortable for longer.

  • UPF 50+ Thermal Shade for Hot Afternoons. Made from 280 g/m² PU-coated polyester, the fabric blocks 98% of UV rays and helps reduce temperatures underneath by up to 10°C, keeping your patio comfortable during peak summer sun. Lab-tested with 1000 hours of Xenon-Arc exposure, the fabric is designed to resist fading, cracking and loss of UV protection over time.

  • Adjustable Shade for Low Sun Angles. Blocks low-lying sun with an adjustable 5°–25° tilt angle. Easily adjust the awning pitch with an Allen key to create shade throughout the day.

  • Reduce Indoor Heat & Glare. Installed over sliding doors or large windows, PERGOLUX Awnings help shade glass surfaces to keep interiors cooler and reduce glare. Enjoy more natural light with blinds open longer while helping reduce the load on your air conditioning during hot summer days.

  • Work Outside Without Glare or Heat. The high-density 280 g/m² polyester fabric reduces direct sunlight and screen glare, making it easier to work outdoors. UPF 50+ protection helps keep your devices cooler in the shade, so you can work comfortably without squinting or moving indoors.

Full-Cassette Awning: Premium Look, Whisper-Quiet

A sealed aluminum casing, hidden hardware, quiet coated cables and built-in dimmable LEDs create a cleaner look from day to night.

  • No Visible Screws, Bolts, or Fixings. The PERGOLUX cassette uses concealed hardware throughout, giving a cleaner facade and fewer weak points where rust can take hold over time.

  • Whisper-Quiet Operation. A quiet motor glides the awning smoothly in and out. The 304 stainless steel arm cables are wrapped in a protective plastic coating, acting as a permanent silent buffer that eliminates grinding or squeaking — no re-greasing, ever.

  • Dimmable LED Strips Built Into Arms. Chip-on-board LEDs produce smoother, continuous bands of natural white light compared to the dotted look of cheap LED strips. Dimmable with included remote and powered through the awning without a second outlet or professional wiring.

Built to Resist the Most Common Awning Failures

Designed around problems that usually shorten an awning's life, with components selected to avoid fading, mold, sagging and squeaking.

  • Tested for 20+ Years of Regular Use. Lab-tested for 3,000 open-close cycles, offering 20+ years of enjoyment at the average 150 uses per year, with integrated motor protection to prevent overheating and provide consistent smooth performance over time.

  • PU Coating Blocks Mold. Mold is the top reason awnings get replaced. Our PU-coated poly shades repel water while allowing fabric to breathe when rolled up, keeping moisture from trapping between layers and making debris easy to wipe off the surface.

  • Sealed Cassette Keeps Stored Fabric Dry. The 6063-T5 full-cassette housing seals rolled fabric, motor & arms from weather exposure when retracted, letting you store all winter or during rainy seasons then return to use without dealing with mold, covers or cleaning.

  • Integrated Gutter Prevents Water Pooling. A calibrated 5° pitch uses gravity to direct rainwater to an integrated front gutter, releasing it through drainage points on both sides of the front profile, eliminating standing water that causes pooling, sagging, and mold.

  • Three Rust-Proof Materials, Zero Weak Joints. Most awnings fail from rust in the hidden joints. We use 6063-T5 aluminum for the structure, hot-dip galvanized Q235 steel for brackets and hinges, and 304 stainless steel for internal cables. Designed to prevent corrosion from salt air, heavy rain, or coastal humidity.

  • No Sagging or Brittle Fabrics. Our shade fabric is stress-tested for 400+ hours under concentrated UV radiation that simulates years of harsh outdoor exposure, able to hold shape and tension even in climates with intense sun exposure.

  • No screeching - even after years. Our 304 stainless steel cables are encased in a permanent protective sleeve that eliminates metal contact, while hot-dipped galvanized hinges resist rust, meaning no screeching or grinding sounds when awning opens or closes.

  • Fade Resistance, Even With Intense Sun. AuroWeave™ shade fabric has Level 4 Color Fastness (ISO 105) that won't fade like lesser fabrics. Full-cassette storage shields fabric from UV when retracted, extending color life even further.

Installation Questions
Can I install my PERGOLUX awning myself?

Yes. PERGOLUX motorised awnings are designed for easy DIY installation and are suitable for most Australian homes.

With 2–3 adults to help lift the awning into position, most installations can be completed by following our step-by-step installation guide, video tutorials and the PERGOLUX app.

If you'd rather leave it to the professionals, we can also connect you with trusted installation partners in selected areas across Australia.

How long does it take to install a retractable awning?

Most PERGOLUX awnings can be installed in around 1–2 hours, depending on the wall type and the size of the awning.

The installation process includes:

- Measuring and marking the mounting position
- Installing the wall brackets
- Lifting and securing the awning cassette
- Connecting the power supply
- Testing the motor and remote control

With the right preparation and a couple of helpers, installation is quick and straightforward.

What tools do I need to install my awning?

You won't need any specialised trade equipment to install your PERGOLUX awning.

For most Australian homes, you'll need:

  • - 2 sturdy step ladders

  • - Power drill (hammer drill for concrete or brick walls)

  • - Masonry drill bits (14 mm or 16 mm, depending on your wall type)

  • - Socket wrench or ratchet set

  • - 6 mm Allen key

  • - Spirit level

  • - Tape measure

  • - Pencil or marker

  • - Caulking gun (for chemical anchor resin and exterior-grade silicone, where required)

  • - Wall scanner (recommended to locate electrical cables and water pipes before drilling)

Always use the correct wall fixings for your wall type and follow the installation instructions carefully.

Can I install the awning on any wall?

PERGOLUX retractable awnings are designed to be installed on structurally sound walls such as:

  • - Concrete

  • - Solid brick

  • - Reinforced masonry

If your home has rendered walls, weatherboard, Hebel, cavity brick or other lightweight construction materials, we recommend consulting a qualified installer to ensure the correct mounting method is used.

Do I need to buy any additional materials, or is everything in the box?

Your PERGOLUX Awning includes the heavy-duty mounting brackets, but you'll need to purchase the correct wall anchors for your home.

Because Australian homes are built using a range of materials—including concrete, brick veneer, double brick, cavity brick, Hebel and timber frame construction—the required wall fixings vary depending on the mounting surface.

You can purchase the recommended fixings from your preferred hardware or building supplies store.

  • Awnings under 5 m wide: 2 mounting brackets and 8 wall anchors

  • Awnings 5 m wide and above: 3 mounting brackets and 12 wall anchors
What type of wall anchors do I need for my specific wall?

The correct wall fixing depends on the construction of your home.

  • Concrete: M12 × 120 mm expansion bolt

  • Solid or double brick: M12 × 160 mm threaded rod with chemical anchor resin

  • Sand-lime brick: M12 × 160 mm threaded rod with chemical anchor resin

  • Hollow or cavity brick: M12 × 160 mm threaded rod with injection sleeve and chemical anchor resin

  • Timber frame: 12 × 120 mm heavy-duty structural timber screws

  • Externally insulated walls: M12 stand-off anchor with chemical anchor resin

  • Concrete ceiling or soffit: M12 × 110 mm expansion bolt or threaded rod with chemical anchor resin

  • Hebel® or other aerated concrete: We recommend consulting a structural engineer or qualified installer before installation.
I have an externally insulated wall. Can I still install an awning?

Yes. If your home has external insulation, your installer will use specialised stand-off fixings designed for insulated walls. These anchors pass through the insulation and are secured into the solid wall behind it, so the awning is supported by the structure of your home—not the insulation itself. This prevents the insulation from being crushed or damaged when installed correctly.

I have hollow brick walls. Can I still install an awning?

Yes. Hollow brick walls require specialised fixings rather than standard masonry bolts. Depending on your wall construction, your installer will use the appropriate anchoring system to ensure a secure installation without damaging the brickwork.

How do I avoid drilling into hidden cables or water pipes?

Three simple steps can save you a lot of hassle. First, look for the obvious signs: electrical cables and plumbing pipes usually run straight up and down, or across from power points, light switches, taps and drains. Second, check your home's plans if you have them. Third, use a wall scanner (easy to buy or hire from most hardware stores) to check where you plan to drill. Spending five minutes checking now can save you from a costly mistake later.

How high should my awning be installed?

For the best clearance and shade, we recommend installing your awning around 2.6–3.0m above ground level. This provides plenty of headroom while allowing the awning to extend at the correct angle. Your installer will position it to suit your home and ensure doors and windows can still open freely.

Can I install the awning on the ceiling instead of the wall?

Yes. PERGOLUX awnings can be installed on either a wall or a ceiling, provided the mounting surface is structurally sound. Concrete, solid brick and structural timber are all suitable when installed with the correct fixings. Your installer will determine the best mounting option for your home.

Can I adjust the angle after the PERGOLUX Awning is installed?

Yes. The pitch can be adjusted both during installation and afterwards. This lets you fine-tune the amount of shade, improve water runoff during light rain, or adapt the angle as the sun changes throughout the year.

Awning Power, Motor & Electrical FAQs
Do I need an electrician to install a PERGOLUX Awning?

No. PERGOLUX awnings are plug-and-play and come with a long power cable that plugs straight into a standard outdoor power point. No hardwiring is required for a typical installation.

Is it safe to have the awning plugged in when it is raining?

Yes. PERGOLUX awnings are engineered for outdoor use and are weather protected. We do recommend plugging the awning into a weatherproof outdoor power point, just as you would with any outdoor appliance.

What happens if the power goes out?

No worries. Every PERGOLUX awning includes a manual crank, so you can still open or close it if there's a power outage.

Will the power cable be visible on my facade?

Not if it's installed properly. The cable can be routed neatly along brickwork or hidden inside slim, paintable cable conduit, making it blend in with your home.

Awning Weather Resistance, Care & Maintenance
Do I need to cover my awning when I'm not using it?

No. The full-cassette design completely encloses the fabric and arms when retracted, protecting them from dirt, rain and the elements. Simply close it when you're finished, and it's ready whenever you need it again.

Is the awning safe to leave open in windy conditions?

PERGOLUX awnings are tested to Wind Resistance Class 2, making them suitable for normal residential wind conditions.

If strong winds, storms or severe weather are forecast, we recommend retracting your awning to protect both the fabric and the frame.

For added peace of mind, you can also install an optional PERGOLUX wind sensor that automatically retracts the awning when wind speeds become too high.

Can I use the awning in light rain?

Yes. The premium 280 g/m² AuroWeave™ polyester fabric features a durable PU coating that repels light rain, so you can continue enjoying your outdoor area during passing showers.

During heavy rain or storms, always retract the awning to prevent water from pooling on the fabric.

Will the cassette rattle against my wall at night when it is windy?

No. When retracted, the fabric and arms are fully enclosed inside the aluminium cassette, helping keep everything secure and quiet.

Will the fabric go mouldy over time?

PERGOLUX AuroWeave™ fabric is specifically engineered to resist mould. The PU-treated surface is water-repellent yet breathable, which prevents moisture from being trapped between layers when the fabric is rolled up. The non-stick surface finish stops pollen and organic matter from embedding in the fibres — the main food source for mould — meaning a simple rinse with a garden hose keeps the fabric clean. The full-cassette enclosure adds a further layer of protection by shielding the rolled fabric from damp conditions all winter.

Will the fabric fade or lose its colour over the years?

Built for Australia's harsh climate, PERGOLUX AuroWeave™ awning fabric is engineered to retain its colour and performance for years of outdoor use. Tested under 1,000 hours of Xenon-Arc UV exposure, it delivers Level 4 colour fastness, helping prevent fading even after prolonged exposure to the Australian sun. Unlike standard retractable awnings, the full-cassette design completely encloses the fabric when retracted, protecting it from UV rays, rain and dirt. The result is a motorised awning that stays looking newer for longer, with consistent colour and lasting durability.

Awning Sizes, Warranty & Council Approval
What size should I choose for my patio?

Think about the area you'd like to shade, not just the wall you're mounting it to. We generally recommend choosing an awning that extends slightly beyond your main outdoor seating area, giving you comfortable shade throughout the day as the sun moves.

Which size should I choose for my balcony?

Choose a width that fits comfortably within your balcony, leaving a little clearance at each end. Your awning should also extend without projecting beyond the balcony edge.

What warranty do I get?

PERGOLUX awnings are built to last and backed by our warranty:

10-year warranty on the structural frame and mounting brackets

5-year warranty on the motor and moving components and on the fabric

2-year warranty on controls, electronics and accessories

What happens if the motor fails after some years?

PERGOLUX awnings are designed to be repairable, not replaced.
The motor can be replaced without replacing the entire awning. In the meantime, you can still operate the awning manually using the supplied hand crank.

Do I need council approval to install an awning?

In most cases, no. Installing a retractable awning on a freestanding home generally doesn't require council approval.

However, requirements can vary depending on your local council and property type. If you live in a heritage-listed home, townhouse, apartment or strata property, we recommend checking with your local council or strata manager before installation.

I'm renting. Can I install a PERGOLUX Awning?

You'll generally need your landlord's written permission before installing a permanent awning, as it involves fixing the brackets to the building. If you're unsure, check your lease agreement or speak with your property manager first.
